A Bachelor of Technology commonly abbreviated as B.Tech is an undergraduate academic degree conferred after the completion of three to four year program of studies at an organized university or organized university level institution. B.Tech is a professional undergraduate engineering degree programme awarded to candidates after they complete their study in this field.

A degree in Bachelor of Technology is often considered as a gateway to the field of engineering. Engineering is one of the most popular courses in India and there are many Institutes and Universities that offer the course to aspiring students. For admissions, the most common B.Tech entrance examinations are JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Along with these national level entrance examinations, there are many state and private level entrance examinations that the students can attempt for admissions. Candidates must have passed the class 12 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. They must also have secured minimum aggregate marks of 60% in the above subjects combined.

While all these specializations offer bright prospects for students to get into different careers, computer science engineering is probably one of the most sought after nowadays. This is also reflected in the high cut off exam scores that top engineering colleges including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) as well as some of the best central universities command from their respective applicants in order to enroll them for this programme.

It is important for an engineer to not only possess great technical skills but also social and emotional intelligence. Compassion, empathy, knowledge, logic, and skill must all combine. If the person has a creative, curious and innovative mind who likes to dig deeper into problems and apply logical thinking and reasoning then engineering is a profession they could look into.

The job opportunities for B.Tech graduates are huge in technical fields. Any graduate who has successfully pursued a B.Tech degree can get a job in almost all the sectors in India. Besides being hired as engineers, BTech graduates are also hired as consultants, professors, subject matter experts, researchers, managers etc. As a B.Tech graduate, it’s important for students to be aware of the choices they will make for their own future. To make the right decision, they must be aware of all the choices available after graduation to lead a better career.
